'Reconstruction Republicans and the Old South' with Forrest Nabors

Professor Forrest Nabors visits from the University of Alaska to discuss his recent book, "From Oligarchy to Republicanism: The Great Task of Reconstruction." In this lecture, Nabors focuses on the forgotten view of the old South by the Republicans responsible for Reconstruction.

Nabors teaches American government, political philosophy and entrepreneurship at the University of Alaska. His research centers on the development of the American political regime, especially under the influence of slavery. In 2017, the University of Missouri Press published "From Oligarchy to Republicanism: The Great Task of Reconstruction," which won the best book of the year in American political thought by the American political thought section of the American Political Science Association. Nabors was an executive in high technology before earning a doctorate in political science at the University of Oregon. He also studied at Claremont McKenna College and the University of Chicago and is from Fair Haven, New Jersey.
