We are pleased to offer two types of undergraduate scholarship opportunities for the 2020-2021 academic year.
George Washington Scholarship
$5,000 each - open to majors in civic and economic thought and leadership
The George Washington Scholarships were created to honor outstanding academic achievement and leadership ability by majors in the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership.
$2,000 each - open to majors and minors in civic and economic thought and leadership
The Founder Scholarships were created to honor excellent academic achievement and leadership ability by a major or minor in the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership.
The application requirements for both scholarships are the same. Majors are encouraged to apply for both scholarships, and if they are not awarded the George Washington Scholarship, they will be considered for the Founders Scholarship if they have applied.
Required application materials:
- A leadership philosophy essay (500 words).
- Name and email address of a faculty member in the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership you would like to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. An email will be sent to the faculty member.
- Statement regarding financial obstacles toward college expenses.

Students are encouraged to apply for both the George Washington and the Founders scholarships However, a student may receive only one kind of scholarship. Financial need is a consideration in awarding Founders Scholarships.
