Whether you are interested in hiking, heading downtown for a baseball game, or want to check out some cool spots within walking distance of Arizona State University’s Tempe Campus, we’ve got you covered. Here are some things to do near ASU:

Hike

Arizona is the third most moved-to state and it’s because of our beautiful weather (excluding summer of course), our growing economy, and the surplus of ways to get outside and get active! For Tempe locals, hiking A Mountain is a favorite pastime and workout. The short but steep hike leads you past the infamous ASU “A” and up to the top. From the top, you can see the whole of Tempe Town Lake and the ASU Tempe Campus. This is a great place to enjoy the view, hydrate, and sweat away life’s worries.

Explore Tempe Town Lake

Tempe Town Lake is so much more than just a lake. This scenic public space attracts so many visitors because it is a beautiful location with a lot to offer. During the day, the waterfront is bustling as people are encouraged to walk or jog along the water, rent boats or canoes, or just simply lounge and enjoy the famous Arizona sunlight. However, at night, the tempo of Tempe Town Lake slows down as it becomes a romantic and unique setting for hand-in-walks to see the bridge lights reflect on the water.

Walk around Mill Avenue

Mill Ave offers a lively, interesting, and flavorful look into ASU culture and life in Tempe. The street is lined with unique restaurants, bars, and shops that will intrigue, amuse, and satisfy the spendthrift version of yourself. Plus, the area is just a short walk away from Tempe Town Lake, the light rail, and the ASU campus. It is the perfect area to seat yourself at a patio table for a bite to eat then explore and indulge in the buzzing nightlife!

Take the Light Rail

The Phoenix Metro Light Rail System is a powerful people mover with stops along many of the greater Phoenix area’s coolest areas. For only $2 you can purchase a day pass and ride the rails as many times as your heart desires. Take the light rail North from ASU to Van Buren street. There you can see a show at the Van Buren or the Crescent Ballroom. If music isn’t your thing, you take the light rail North to 3rd Street and Jefferson to see a Diamondbacks Game at the Chase Field or cheer in the stands during Spring Training! The rail runs 24 hours and is a great way to meet new and interesting people while seeing more of what the city is like.

We hope this list gave you an idea of all of the wonderful activities Tempe, Arizona has to offer.
